Designed for Highgate gardens
Most of Highgate is a conservation area, many gardens have protected trees, and terraced houses often have no side access. A garden room here is a design and planning project first, and a build second.
Each room is drawn for your house and garden, in materials chosen to sit well beside it: oak, zinc, charred larch or brick to match the house. We prepare the planning application where one is needed, then build with the least possible disruption to you and your neighbours.
- Planning in a conservation area: We check the rules for your address and, where consent is needed, prepare the drawings, heritage statement and application for Haringey or Camden and deal with the planners until a decision.
- Protection for mature trees: Ground-screw foundations need no digging, so the room can sit close to trees without damaging their roots. Where a tree is protected, we arrange an arboricultural report.
- No side access, no problem: The frame is made in panels sized to carry through a hallway. Floors, walls and stairs are protected while we work.
- Considerate building: Frames are prepared at our workshop, so there are fewer days of noise on site. We write to neighbours before we start and keep the street clear.
