Garden rooms
in St Albans

Garden offices, gyms and annexes built to house standards at our own St Albans workshop. Most need no planning permission and are finished in 2 to 3 weeks.

Made in St Albans

Our workshop is in St Albans, so your garden room is made a few miles from your home. Site visits are easy to arrange, the frame arrives ready to assemble, and we are close by if you need us after handover.

We build across St Albans and the surrounding district: Harpenden, Wheathampstead, Redbourn, London Colney, Park Street, Bricket Wood and How Wood.

  • Planning checked for your address: Most gardens can take a garden room under permitted development. In the city-centre conservation areas or the Green Belt villages we check the rules first and apply to St Albans City & District Council where needed.
  • Built in 2 to 3 weeks: The frame, roof and insulation panels are made at our workshop, so most rooms take 10 to 14 working days on site.
  • Fixed, line-item price: You get a written proposal that lists every item and its cost before you commit.
  • Built like a house: C24 timber frame, PIR insulation, EPDM roof and aluminium glazing, so the room is warm in winter and cool in summer.

Garden rooms in St Albans: questions

Do I need planning permission for a garden room in St Albans?

In most gardens, no. Our standard rooms are designed under 2.5 m eaves height to qualify as permitted development. In the city-centre conservation areas, for listed buildings or in the Green Belt the rules are stricter, so we check your address first and apply to St Albans City & District Council where needed.

Do you build in Harpenden and the villages?

Yes. We build across the St Albans district, including Harpenden, Wheathampstead, Redbourn, London Colney, Park Street, Bricket Wood and How Wood.

How long does the build take?

Most rooms take 10 to 14 working days on site, because the frame is prepared at our St Albans workshop. An annexe with a bathroom takes 15 to 20 working days.

Can I add a bathroom or kitchenette later?

It costs much less to lay water and waste pipes during the first build. If you might want a WC, shower or kitchenette later, tell us at the site visit and we will allow for it.
